Chamber Ambassadors

DESCRIPTION OF AN AMBASSADOR

A person who is friendly and who enjoys meeting new people and volunteers their time by representing and promoting the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce (DBCOC) at mixers, events and in the community. Ambassadors are visible in the community and share with others about their role with the Chamber and communicate the value of Chamber membership to others.

AMBASSADORS MISSION STATEMENT

To promote and communicate the value of Chamber membership and enhance goodwill of the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce in the community. Assist in the success and visibility of the DBCOC through regular involvement in Chamber mixers and special events.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF AN AMBASSADOR

Ambassadors engage in and attend numerous Chamber activities such as Monthly Chamber Mixers, Ribbon Cuttings, Grand Openings, Special Chamber Events, Fundraising Events. Ambassadors are hosts at Chamber mixers and events and may help by working at the registration check-in table, assisting with the raffle table and generally making sure our new members feel welcome. The Ambassadors greet and introduce first-time visitors and new members to other chamber members to connect them to the organization and help them to remain active and involved. They answer questions about membership; orienting each new member about the various committees and ways in which they can become connected and promote their business. They invite guests and friends to mixers, they greet and introduce first-time visitors and new members to other chamber members to connect them to the organization and help them to remain active and involved. They answer questions about membership; orienting each new member about the various committees and ways in which they can become connected and promote their business.

Ambassadors also actively mentor new and prospective members by following up with them outside of mixers to encourage them and invite them to attend specific Chamber events.

AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

There shall be one Ambassador Chairperson appointed by the incoming Chamber President for the term of one (1) year, which may be extended if determined in the best interest of the Chamber of Commerce.

MEMBERSHIP RULES

Ambassadors should contact the Ambassador Committee Chairperson when absences are anticipated or emergencies prevent attendance at meetings. Missing three (3) or more consecutive meetings or events without contacting the Chairperson will be considered a resignation from the program. If an Ambassador will be unable to participate for an extended period of time (for example, due to a medical or personal emergency), he or she may request a leave of absence from the Committee Chairperson.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

The Ambassadors Committee shall meet as needed throughout the year to go over upcoming events, discuss issues, opportunists and have fun along the way!!

The Chairperson will email meeting reminders to all Ambassadors one (1) week in advance of the meeting and again on the morning of the meeting. These emails will detail all upcoming Chamber events for the next 4-6 weeks for discussion and planning at the meeting,

The Ambassador Chairperson will ask everyone to sign in using a sign in sheet and will prepare and follow an agenda at the meeting.

CODE OF ETHICS AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible and to actively represent the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce as an Ambassador, the following ethics and requirements must be met.

  1. Each Ambassador must attend a majority of the Ambassador meetings per year.
  2. Each Ambassador is asked to attend at least (6 ) Chamber events per year. The events include Chamber Mixers, Ribbon Cuttings, Events, Fundraisers, Awards Dinner, or any other Chamber event or fundraiser.
  3. Each Ambassador must respect the business of the Chamber of Commerce and, keeping that in mind, the confidentiality thereof. Discretion must be used when discussing Chamber matters.
  4. Each Ambassador must represent the Chamber by wearing the Ambassador badge.

RECOGNITION

“Ambassador of the Year” will be awarded at the Annual Awards Dinner.
